Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council: context for considering a planning application
This Public Consultation has now closed. Thank you for all comments received, which will be considered by Lagan Homes.
The Borough Council will consider planning applications in accordance with the “Local Plan” unless material considerations indicate otherwise. Local Plans are Council documents that set out the amount and distribution of housing over a specific period. Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council’s last Local Plan dealing with the amount and distribution of housing development was adopted in 2009. This means it is significantly out of date. Furthermore, a number of housing sites allocated in a subsequent Local Plan have not come forward. Therefore, if development needs are to be met in the Borough of Hinckley and Bosworth, it is critical that additional sites come forward to address these needs.
Ratby is designated within the Local Plan as a “Rural Centre Relating to Leicester”. This means that in addition to the services and facilities in Ratby itself, Leicester is within reach for accessing a wider range of services and Ratby is therefore considered to be a sustainable location for growth.
Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council is currently working on a new Local Plan. It is anticipated that this Local Plan will seek to meet housing needs to at least 2041. The proposals set out in this website can assist in meeting these housing needs.
